Hi

All assets are balance sheet related and their balances are carried forward
across time , no matter whether they are depreciated or not during a given
year. That is precisely why you run the balance carry forward program. In
your company code ( viz.700) , there has not been any asset related activity
after say fiscal year 2007. Now you are in the fiscal year 2011. Is it not
logical to carry forward the closing balances of assets from 2007 across
time ( Closing balances of 2007 becoming opening balances of 2008 and so
forth ) and up to the current period ? This is one of the closing activities
with regard to asset accounting. Your closing balances are perhaps hanging
thinly after 2007 since you have not carried out activities like fiscal year
change, closing of fiscal year 2007 etc.. Therefore, SAP is unable to get
opening balances of assets as at the beginning of fiscal year 2011.

Try doing depreciation run and all closing activities for each year (
sequentially) from 2007 till date. You are likely to get up to date.

Hi,

Go and maintain table OAYC with the last depreciation posted as 12/XXXX (year); if this does not work see that you have any entry for that company code in table TABA.

Thanks,

Madhu
