Have you looked into the discontinuation indicator in MRP4 view of MM? This provides you with functionality to replace one material with another.

Discontinuation indicator
Identifies the material as a part to be discontinued and includes it in the discontinued parts procedure in materials planning.

Use
If this indicator is set, the system transfers the dependent requirements in materials planning to the follow-up material if they are no longer covered by warehouse stocks. However, this requires:

The part to be discontinued and the follow-up material to be planned using material requirements planning (MRP)
The base unit of measure of the follow-up material to be the same as that of the part to be discontinued

Subject: Old material with wrong valuation class need to be replaced with new material

Hi
Business requirement is i have around 200 material which are having wrong valuation class, wish to replace with new material.
I have already checked that there are no open PR/PO nor a stock of the old material.
what steps need to follow so that old material can be marked to delete and new material will be used.

I am trying with one option where i am trying to do transfer posting using MB1B transaction and movement type 309.
But by default it ask for storage location.
is it mandatory to have storage location?

Secondly if there is no stock of material, so during MB1B transaction if quantity to be transfered if i mention zero will it work?

also suggest if any alternatives ways can be used to overcome this issue.

Please suggest.

Best Regards

Abhijeet
