AW01N is primarily a report based on the table ANLC, by asset. You could write a query on ANLC which could pull out a report for multiple assets. Check out how the derived areas are addressed in ANLC though.

We have a chart of depreciation that looks something like this: Area 01 - real area, posts to GL Area 05 - real area, posts to GL Area 20 - real area, takes APC and depreciation values from area 01, does not post to GL Area 40 - derived area calculated as 20 - 01 - 05, posts to GL Areas 05 and 40 are only active for a few asset classes (they are connected with periodic land and buildings revaluation). 01 and 20 are active for all asset classes. For the last 5 years, the depreciation calculation and posting from area 40 has worked perfectly. I know the config because I built it. Starting from 2010, I have problems. * Problem 1 - this is the big one, I really need to solve it Starting from this year, the values to post from area 40 are incorrectly calculated. I have traced the reason to the fact that, unlike previous years, the 'posted depreciation' values in area 20 are all zero. I can see this from the asset history sheet. When I run asset history sheet with the 'posted depreciation' flag unchecked, it gives the Dep for Year in areas 01 and 20 as identical. But when I run asset history with the 'posted depreciation' flag checked, the Dep for Year in area 20 is zero. This is across all assets in all asset classes. The depreciation posting generated in area 40 seems to be dependent on the posted depreciation in the other areas. Because this is now zero in area 20, the GL postings being generated from area 40 are incorrect. If I look back at the asset history for previous years, the posted depreciation in area 20 is populated with the correct value. I have tried running AFAR, but it doesn't find anything to correct. It is possible that someone. somewhere has changed some configuration or settings, since we run multinational on a single client. However, the companies I work with have their own chart of depreciation which, in theory, should not be touched by anyone else. I can't see that anything has been changed in the CoD. However, I noticed that the account determination I had set up for area 40 5 years ago seemed to have disappeared or changed. There was some account determination present in AO99 (special reserves), but the GL accounts in there were not the ones that we have been posting to up to end of 2009. No one can tell me specifically if or what might have changed, but I do know that we had a big implementation went live at end of 2009, bringing a new block of companies onto the system, which makes me a little suspicious. Anyhow, I am now getting a bit desperate to fix this area 20 problem, because we haven't been able to run depreciation for several months now. If I can't solve it, we will have to let the incorrect postings run each month and adjust the GL with manual journals - not really acceptable for the end user as a long term solution! * Problem 2 - will go away if I can solve 1, but I'd like to understand why it's happening I have one asset class for which areas 05 and 40 are flagged as not active in OAYZ, yet area 40 posting values are being calculated. In previous years this didn't matter because in this asset class the area 40 depreciation always calculates to zero. It is a problem this year because wrong behaviour of area 20 is giving rise to values in area 40, which the system is trying to post, despite area 40 being inactive for asset class. * Problem 3 - not serious, but again, I'd like to understand why it's happening I haad to change the area 40 posting rule from 3 to 0 for some activity during close of 2009, and forgot to set it back to 3 for 2010. No-one noticed until depreciation for periods 01, 02 and 03.2010 had been run. I reset it to 3, but the repeat run for period 03.2010 refuses to 'catch up' the postings, I guess we will have to post to the GL manually to correct the GL balances. My heartfelt thanks will go to anyone who can help me, especially with 'Problem 1'. | | __.____._ Copyright © 2010 Toolbox.com and message author. Toolbox.com 4343 N.
