[sap-log-sd] Delivery split according to weight

Dear Experts,
my current client is facing me with the following requirement.
Within a sales order, an item with 80 tons is captured.
Due to interfaces to external warehouses and forwarding agents there is a requirement when delivering this sales order item that a delivery split should take place, which means if the 80 tons are physically available the system should create 4 deliveries instead of one carrying the entire quantity.
4 deliveries because 20 tons is exactly on Full-Truck-Load.
As far as I know this can't be done via customizing delivery split criteria and can also not be covered by using ZUKRL in copy control.
Does this have to be code in a user exiti? SAPMV50AFZ* _ SAVE_DOCUMENT?

Which is the correct place to implement the coding with which logic? Or are there other possibilities to cover that requirement which should not be that exotic...
Anybody who also has already been dealing with that?

Any assistance and feedback is highly appreciated.
