The serial number profile is what drives the system to require a serial number on a transaction.
Since IQ03 shows the qty 2 that is really on-hand, then something occurred for IM to show qty 4. Check that MMBE shows only 2 serial numbers on-hand. They should be the same.
Serialization can get turned on for an active item. The items on-hand at that point are without a serial number.
Errors in the entry of Serial numbers in processing can also lead to mismatches.
SAP Note 519563 describes a simple work around: changing the profile to optional, posting the needed change, changing the profile back to mandatory.
I recommend doing this when the system usage is low.

We are currently doing Physical Inventory for one of the plants and got an issue with serialized products. Total Quantity of a product (in IM) is 4 in the system where as Quantity 2 is available in Ware house(WM) as well as IQ03.So counted with actual quanity(2) and completed LI20 transaction. Generally difference quantity can be cleared with transaction LI21.but it is not possible to clear off serialized products. So we used MB1A with movement type 711 , but the system is asking for serial numbers to clear off which are not available in the system. Can you please provide solution or workaround on how to clear off serialized product inventory count without giving the serial number. |
