Your issues are not caused by external disk issues.
Please post your question in the proper functional group (maybe log-sd ?).
This is not a Basis issue... and, your installation looks flaky and will not be supported.

I have a SAP ECC5.0 in external harddisk and I have copied the same in my laptop in one drive and run the program. Some features are working but some are not. like when I did the spro setting already valuation area take plant and also inactive that is you only see but not change to company code.
Secondly when I see the default plant list so list not open. Similarly in ME51N plant list not open when I am pressing the dropdown button.
