Reply from soldner on Mar 31 at 11:52 AM If the US. multiple PERNRs can have same SSN (it0002-perid). PERNR is a work contract, and 1 person can have many work contracts, but all are ties to the 1 person-ssn.

SAP will never generate same employee number for two employees. If the data entered in IT0002 was the same for two employee nos. then don't worry, try to change the record it won't create any split or any history in master record.
