Reply from horacio zapettini on Nov 27 at 1:19 PM Its value is assigned when you process PAI. We have a lot of dialog programs that clear sy-ucomm and it works fine for us.
And of course we also have a lot of programs with ok_code defined instead of sy-ucomm and they work fine too.
Having an snippet of the code could help us to understand the problem. Debuging the code could help our OP to understand what's going on behind the scenes.

When you clear sy-ucomm, it will be set back to the system setting the next
time that system controls set a system value. At least that has been my
experience.
