You may want to check the OSS Notes. I think I've read one or two notes about compatibility among office and sap versions (nothing to do with sap-gui at that point). Bear in mind that you're using the standard ole support, not calling excel from a custom report. when 4.6 was delivered, office 2010 wasn't even in plans. when sap left behind 4.6. office 2010 was still off plans. So it would be reasonable to think that 4.6 does not know how to "talk" to xls 2010.
It's different if you're developing a custom report and you run excel from that report. In that case, We've tested different versions of excel (from ' 97 to 2010 and has always worked fine.

does not work. My SAP GUI already 7.20. I didn't find any notes
regarding Windows 7 or excel 2010 from OSS.
