Please change the maintenance level in the related screen lay out and
set it at sub number level ( perhaps, it is currently at main number
level ). And you should be able to use a different depreciation date,
depreciation key for the sub number.

You had the asset screen layout settings to copy the capitalization date
from main asset, if you change that you can have a different capitalization
date on sub asset.
