Although this is not a direct solution, I did search by 'control indicator' in App Area MM-PUR-REQ, this is one of the notes selected.

Solution
In Customizing of the document type (Transaction OMEB, IMG MM > Purchasing > Purchase Requisition > Define Document Types), no document types with control indicator 'T' should be maintained.
Also purchasing distinguishes only between purchase requisitions with control parameter 'R' and purchase requisitions not equal to 'R' (generally the control parameter is blank).
A stock transfer should be mapped via the corresponding stock transfer document types and within material requirements planning via the corresponding special procurement keys. ...
So it seems it is MM issue. I don't think it has anything to do with CO Controlling Area.
Puch Doc Type, Special Proc Keys, Plant determination .. anyways, you should ask MM guys.

Hi,
When I am creating automatic PO through tcode ME59N,System displays message"control indicators for controlling area do not exist"
PO could not be created.
Requisition could not be converted.
Although I have created PURCHASING INFO RECORD (Tcode ME11).
Maintain Source List(Tcode ME01).
Automatic PO indicator in Material Master as well as in Vendor Master.
PR creation (Tcode ME51N).
Maintained controlling area ( Tcode OKKP).
cost centre :component Active
Order management:component active
commit management: component active
Acty-based costing:Component active for Parallel calculation
checked all components ie
1)AA activity Box
2)Profit center Acctg
3)Projects
4)Sales Order
5)Cost objects
6)Real estate Mgmt
7)W.Commit Mgmt
Maintain fiscal year as 2011.
But I am getting errors:
1)PO could not be created
2)Control Indicators for Controlling area do not exist
3)Req could not be converted.
Please advice me what to do next.
