That seems like a perfectly reasonable set of scenarios. I'm not sure I understand the problem, though. Let me state what I understand the problem to be, and you can tell me if I'm understanding it correctly:
If you mark (highlight by clicking on the checkbox on the far left of the row) several rows in the table control that span multiple pages, only the marked rows on the currently-visible page become input-capable. Is that right,

check-box(s) that particular row will be input enabled.
Case 1:
only 1 row not necessarily first row.
Case 2:
Adjacent multiple-rows
Case 3:
Non-adjacent multiple-rows.
