I'm not sure what you mean by sap show files. By the way, a trick which helps me save/download data is printout output list into spool (SP01 transaction). It functions well as for huge lists so for long-runtime-reports in background. Then the list from spool item is possible to download into local drive; handle by next process; store on an application server drive; send by interface; ...etc.
