Hi Helene
Good and creative thinking, I must say ! Do you mean to say that the system allows you to create an entry "HOLD" as a constituent of a run schedule ?! I was under the impression that valid dates only are permitted here ! And use it in an execution of recurring entry without the creation of a session of SAPF120?!
Usually Transaction code F.15 keeps a tab on the number of times the recurring entry has been executed for update each time an f.14 happens. In fact, when the recurring entry is run for the last time (using the last entry in the run schedule), then the system throws a warning indicating that the reference document cannot be used any more and you can find the tab changes to X after the last and final execution.
The run schedule should be capable of generating a fruitful execution of recurring entry for the other valid entries (other than HOLD) and generate accounting documents ( Did you try this out?). I would suggest that you do an F.15 and see the status. In fact I suggest that you begin an execution run(F.14) with Hold as the run schedule, check status with F.15 and then do another execution (F.14) with any other date entry in your schedule and see if it happens( Check status by doing F.15 again).
Moreover, I would suggest that you explore the error message generated in detail to get a clear idea of how the system behaves.
Recurring entry is just one of the reference documents. How are you going to handle sample documents (another form of reference document ) and what happens if some one posts with a previously generated accounting document as a reference document? Your answer might possibly be to use authorization controls. Then you could resolve your issue for all the above using authorization checks which is probably a simpler solution.
I am not discouraging you from proceeding with your innovative attempt. But just ensure that you are establishing a foolproof control. And please share your findings with me.

Thanks for your response. My first comment is my first name is Helene (smile).
How about using the field "Run Schedule" (BKDF-DBAKZ). Maybe we can create an entry as "HOLD". Then in the transaction F.14 (SAPF120), we can select all available reference document that is not equal to "HOLD"... At some point, it was feasible to create this entry, I ran the transaction SAPF120, but for some reason ( I did not yet dig into it) the program gives an error through SM35 (Maybe I am not using the transaction properly) Give me your thoughts. | | __.____._ Copyright © 2010 Toolbox.com and message author.
