Vidhyadhar, To quote from your response to Waza - '... such knowledge transfer should be done to the benefit of the person(s) seeking clarifications.' How would one interpret benefit? Getting the full solution in a platter or being shown a way to develop the solution through one's own diligence? As the Chinese saying goes "Give a man a *fish*; *you* have fed him for today. *Teach a man to fish*; and *you* have fed him for a lifetime". I will add to it - 'Teach a man to fish; and he can feed himself as well as a few others for a lifetime'. Sadly enough, majority of the posts in this board are made without even taking the effort to press the F1 key, let alone try something out or go deeper or even check the archives. If a pointer is provided, there is no effort to carry it further and develop on it. Provide the full solution and you have one more 'very experienced' consultant who is going to implement the solution without knowing why it would work. Knowledge sharing involves a great deal of responsibility and effort on the one who is getting the knowledge. And the one who is sharing the knowledge gained it from own efforts and persistence, which the knowledge seeker is either refusing to follow (the easy way out, ask someone who knows) or is incapable of doing it without a little support. The latter category will run along once they get the lead and the former would make no sense out of the lead provided. Waza's statement "I prefer to give a hint, rather than give a full bodied solution, or maybe tomorrow I won't be employable anymore!!! " is very revelant and valid. It is not the sharing the knowledge that would make any one un-employable, but the inefficient adoption of such knowledge. Enough said, I will leave the rest to one's imagination. As for Waza, he had been providing valuable contributions for a very long time now and I concur with his stated view absolutely. Rajan.
