Have you considered the purchase reqs? Suggest you try this:have the MM POtextreferenced to the purchase req item text. When the purchasereq is copied to a PO, have thereqPO item textcopy(not reference) into the PO item text.
This setup allows planners to make needed changes/additions to the purchase req and have these changes showup in the PO.It also conservesPO history.

I did some research and testing as per your suggestion. Unfortunately, it is not operating as I had understood you to say. What is happening is...if there is a * the Material Master PO Text defaults to the PO. If it is Blank..the text does not default to the PO. I need the text to default so we do have the *.
The issue is that when we change the Material Master PO text..it changes all historic Purchase Orders, not just new ones going forward and we lose historic information. I am thinking there must be other config to say "copy" text vs "reference" and then the historic PO Texts would not be affected when the Material Master is changed. I have searched the IMG under Text determination, Copy vs Reference etc and am not getting any hints/help etc on this. If you know where these controls are in the IMG it would be greatly appreciated.
