The products are sold from the central warehouse by sales companies, who do not own the stock (they purchase the product from the product company as they sell it).

In the above statement you mention who do not own the stock and they purchase as and when they sell.

You have to have stock purchased before you effect the sale.

So keep the central ware house is a location for brand a to brand n, from there sell to the sale company what they want, what ever not sold if they want to return keep returning to the parent brand.

With this you will have perfect accounting at any given time.

The stock position of each product how much is with brand product company and how many brands with central warehouse location stock and how much is with sales company will help the decision making process of either production plan, inventory plan or sales promotion plans.

Throughout, the product will have a owner, liability account will be clear.

So central ware house will be a extended arm of each brand company with their respective finished goods.

Subject: Is consignment stock our solution?

> Hi experts!
Since I usually work with SD and not MM I need some assistance from you MM experts.
We have a situation with a company that owns several brands (of shoes). Each of these brands is represented by one product company who is the product owner. Each product company has one plant where their products are produced. All products from all production companies are stored in one central warehouse. The products are sold from the central warehouse by sales companies, who do not own the stock (they purchase the product from the product company as they sell it).
The question is if the central warehouse should be set up as a consignment stock? What are the pros and cons with that solution?
Or is there a completely different solution that is better?
