Dean -
Without analyzing your suggestion in too much detail, I don't believe it
will work. I use Gmail outbound SMTP for one of my Gmail accounts
(personally), and it requires authentication. There may be an option when
Google is hosting your email domain (@company.com) to get around that, but
generally speaking that's a show stopper with SAP (which doesn't do
authentication).

Good Day
I may live to regret this post - but...
Yes, I think one actually can use G-mail as the SMTP server.
SMTP/POP3 settings are described here:
http://www.emailaddressmanager.com/tips/mail-settings.html
Don't get me wrong - I've certainly never tried to do it - but I do
think it would work (it will work conceptually, assuming the SMTP/POP3
info is accurate, but as I say I've never tried).
Sadiqiqbal: This is really NOT a 'good' idea. In my opinion, it's much
better to go get an open source SMTP server and run it yourself on some
leftover hardware if you require 'low cost'. Email becomes a legal
issue for a company - make REAL sure that your company's legal experts
are OK with that semi-public G-mail technical solution. Seriously!
Regards,

Hi,
You can't link your SAP system to gmail and for gmail to act as your
SMTP server. Your company needs its own SMTP mail server.
