Sidi,
Purely because we are have the assets marked in the factory with the
number originally assigned. I guess they can just print a label with the
new number. Would have just been easier if we did not have the rigmarole
of a new number. We could even use the sub-number to do the transfer.

Can I ask, why do you want to keep the old asset number? What is the
business requirement here?

Thanks Kristine....cannot use this method as my numbers are already set
as externally assigned.

Try if its possible to change number range of 2nd asset to externally
assign. Then if the desired asset number already exists, you can now
change back to number range internally assigned.
