Yes you are right!It is only for balance sheet account-i.e for capital
accounts not for the revenue accounts.Balance of the account is not changed
for any clearing.It is used for marking against which amount any thing is
cleared.Your 2nd conception is not correct.It is used for the reconciliation
accounts too-like customer, vendor etc.
