You do not have to change the depreciation key, just the useful life. In some situations, the depreciation key itself contains a fixed depreciation percentage. In this case, the useful life in the asset master depreciation area is ignored when calculating depreciation. It is always wise to execute a depreciation recalculation after changing any of the data that is used to calculate depreciation.
