I have added the above values to the existing role and it worked. What I don't understand is that the user used to create projects without this 0101 value before.

My users have used CJ20N with no problems up until we opened a new company code and now everybody who is creating projects are getting an authorisation error for C_PROJ_TCD with values 0101.
Could it be that some configuration was transported by accident which lead to the authorisation error?
