thank you all for the good and very helpful answers.
the role is about service procurement so I was pretty much doing the main functions anyway, just I never new it had a fancy name to it :-)
somebody suggested google - of course I have tried that first, but the results were pretty much inconclusive.
The best quality answers are always coming from this site, also left to my own devices I might have forget about Ariba !
