Hi,

The function of Leading and Non-Leading Ledgers in the New GL is mainly to replace the Special Purpose Ledger functionality.

The Leading ledger is where you record your GAAP-compliant postings for the majority of your business transactions. A Non-Leading Ledger is needed only if you also need to record transactions for a specific other GAAP requirement. An example would be where most of your business must be US GAAP compliant, but you are also running a German or Malaysian company code where you are required by their laws to produce a different set of financial statements that comply instead with their local GAAP requirements. You would create a Non-Leading Ledger for the German / Malaysian company codes.
