Have you looked for OSS notes related to that tcode and to the FM name? (perhaps that patch had a prerequisite your basis missed?) To answer your doubt: SAP objects can have these status: released (i.e. you can use the object in your custom programs and SAP ensures you that the object would always work consistently with your current version). non released (i.e. you can use the object at your own risk. SAP feels free to change it, remove it or whatever they want without noticing anyone). In our system, this FM exists but has a the second status. In other words, if we decide to use it in our code, we could be in trouble if SAP decides to remove that code or change that code.
