No, you couldn't match exactly what we are doing without running the basic SAP payroll. However, if your major issue is getting proper, accurate master pay data to PayForce, you could use a version of PU12 to do that. You would have to set it up to match the fields and layout that they expect to see but that would be a relatively minor ABAP exercise.

I am not necessarily recommending our solution but when you said you were checking all options, I thought I would just let you know what we have done, which is to run the basic SAP payroll with a mostly standard PU12 interface. This is the best for our particular situation and we have never encountered issues in PU12 like what you have noted with IDOC/Connections. (As a matter of fact, when preparing to install SAP 4 years ago, it was suggested we avoid using that process.)

Subject: ADP Connections - Custom Interface or SAP Provided IDOC

We currently do not "run" SAP Payroll (at all). However, we do run the PC00_M10_OTEM - Create Master Data Export to produce an IDOC that we then push through ADP Connections to Payforce - our primary payroll system.

The IDOC/Connections process has been riddled with issues from the get-go - due to the inherent complexity of ADP Connections mappings (given that we sometimes have SAP changes that must be accounted for in Connections), and also because we do not know, nor do we run SAP Payroll and so we are ill equipped at managing issues as to why something DOES or (more often) DOES NOT appear on the IDOC as we expect.

We are reviewing all of our options - SAP Training for Payroll, Implement parts of SAP Payroll, Custom Interface, etc.

That all said, I want to get a show of hands (so to speak) of whether other companies more often stick with the SAP IDOC (which I am sure is "recommended") or abandon it for a custom interface.

Which does your company do? Why?

Thanks gurus!!
