1) The GNOME environment and the Java Environment in Solaris do not allow Windows to go beyond the top of the visible screen. 2) I do not know what SAP development is. When I made up the question, I guess I somehow defaulted to this area. Sorry about that.

We are running in the CDE environment using the default dtwm window manager with X Windows. Some of our applications open windows with the upper-left Y dimension as a negative value which puts the menu bar off the screen.
