I have not found a depreciation key based on NBV. Can we accomplish the same end result by transferring the asset's NBV to a new asset with life=the remaining life of the old asset?

Subject: Can monthly depreciation be recalc'd after unplanned depreciation is taken?

Asset with original value of $4Million was originally depreciating at $67K per month (life of 5 Yr 0 Pd). Capitalization date of 6/10/2009 in Legacy system. After 12 months of depreciation, and during the first month after migrating from Legacy system to SAP, business took $600K in unplanned depreciation. After taking the unplanned depreciation, the asset continues to depreciate at the original rate of $67K per month. Business expected depreciation to drop over the remaining life of the asset to $54K/month. Is there anything that can be done to the asset to adjust the depreciation amount?

Thank you in advance for any advice.

Kind regards,
Cathy Helgeson
