Subject: Date calculation / Asset transferring

Dear forum members,

I got a simple question: I`ve written a program that transfers assets from one company to another.

And the start date of the amortization in the new company has to start at the date when the asset is transferred. Do the days have any consequences? And how would you calculate the days?

I`ve done it that way: In the old asset you have the start date for example 01.08.2004 and a duration of 20 years and 0 periods. So the end of the amortization isn't the end of July 2024!? Isn`t it???

And when I transfer the asset at the 31.12.2010 i got a new duration of 13 years an 7 periods!? Don`t I??? Do I have any "errors in reasoning"? Am I wrong? Please help me...I was able to write a big report that works, but I`m not able to solve this problem.

Thank`s in advance.
