Almost all activities in accounting lead to the population of values in your
general ledger through the updation of two or more General Ledger Accounts.
Updated values help you in the generation of financial statements for
reporting. In many such activities you can determine the appropriate general
ledger accounts manually during posting through data entry. There may also
be instances where you can let the system automatically determine the
appropriate accounts for updation of values. Such automatic determination
can be carried out in the IMG by defining the appropriate general ledger
accounts (which should be populated with values). You configure them once
transaction specifically ( viz. based on the nature of transaction in a
generic way) . When a transaction occurs in future, the related general
ledger accounts to be involved are automatically picked by the system for
updation of values based on your configuration.
As Kalpesh pointed out , such automatic account determination is set in the
IMG using transaction codes mentioned by him.

The purpose of automatic account determination is to derive account for posting where manual account is not available. Transaction Code FBKP gives you almost all of any automatic account determinations. VKOA gives the Reveue Account determination for SD modules. HR Account determination would be separate (I am not aware of). |
