There is an oss that says :

Due to changes in how R/3 Enterprise converts exported data to Excel and the fact that we are now mostly using MS Office 2002 which applies stricter security settings, some (but not all) exports to Excel from SAP will not function correctly. This feature is documented by both SAP and Microsoft as a known issue(1,2).

It should be noted that this issue only affects R/3 Enterprise and users with Office 2002 or greater. It does not impact on the existing R/3 4.6 system.

The problem manifests itself in some programs that use an ALV (ABAP List Viewer) display and is present in customer and SAP supplied programs. It seems to largely affect 'inplace' display (data displayed as a component/frame of the SAP GUI).

A list of known affected programs is shown at the end of this document. This list is derived from programs that use the Function Module 'REUSE_ALV_GRID_DISPLAY' only. The list is not exhaustive and this feature may occur elsewhere.

The solution is described below and involves making a simple change to the default settings in Excel on each client PC. [The security implication of this change has been discussed with the ISS IT Security Officer. Confirmation was given that he saw no reason why changing this setting in Excel to allow SAP to 'send it data' will weaken security.]

Go to Tools -> Macro -> Security in Excel

Select the 'Trusted Sources' tab and ensure that the checkbox titled 'Trust access to Visual Basic Project' is ticked.

Subject: Not able to run reports in excel via SAP wthout downloading

Hi ARI,

Yes, i can view the report other than with excel. The weird thing is if the user hits the back button, the r eport will show up again but in excel, but in the default presentation. Is there anything else that I need to do, so that they can see this? If we use the SAP gui without going through Citrix it works fine.

Regards,
Thomas
