Hi,

You are almost finished with that client copy. It took you 2 days. Now, it takes you 3 days. if you DB was around 260GB 6 months ago, then, this is normal.

At that size, client copy should be excluded, you should go with homogeneous system copy with the database copy method. it will take less time. I refresh a 1.1TB system in less than 8 hours, including restore time. And I know other companies that have better times than me.

Subject: Problem with slow remote client copy

Hi Gurus,

I'm using SAP ECC6, ORACLE 10.2.0 and HPUX B.11.23. These configurations are the same for both PRD and QAS systems.

I'm currently in the midst of executing a remote client copy from PRD to QAS system. Current PRD database size is about 390GB. Previously I had done the same process and it took about 2 days to complete. That was about 6 months ago and the database size might be smaller.

Now, with the database size increased, I'm performing the same task again, but this time, the copying process has been running about 3 days already and has yet to complete. Initially I was having some issues with the tablespace being full, but it has been fixed.

I had observed from the client copy screen, it shows that there are 54915 tables and 54908 is already done. Please see below.

Sample info:

Statistics for this Run
- No. of Tables 54908 of 54915
- Deleted Lines 217919510
- Copied Lines 346665360

My questions are:
1) Why is it taking so long to complete the process? 3 days and still going? Is this normal? Is there anything else that I should check and monitor apart from archive log and table space?

2) Is there a way to improve this copying process? Is there any alternative or a better way of doing so?

Would appreciate for any of your help and advice.

Thank you.

Cheers.
