Hi Priyanka
Multiple postings (especially happening in different periods of time) to a single asset is recommended to be done by using the concept of sub numbers so that depreciation of each can be handled independently.
Your observations on the accounts ( both at sub ledger and G L levels) affected upon doing an FB03 would throw more light on which assets were actually populated with data. The same applies to your observations on the asset history sheet.
By the way, what dates were used as value date for posting each part of the said asset?
The period control determines the start date of depreciation which differs based on whether there is an acquisition , subsequent addition, retirement or transfer is made and this is very important.
As Ari rightly pointed out, configuration of a settlement profile with regard to own fabrication ( Assets under construction , writing a distribution rule and subsequent settlement of the same are essential for the asset value to be posted and depreciated correctly thereafter).
I believe you have probably started out learning Asset Management and hope you are doing it on a test system. I would suggest that you grasp the concepts of the subject ( preferably with the guidance of someone who knows the subject better) and then try things out. That could make learning easier and clearer. But you do not have to lose confidence or feel disheartened. We all learn by making mistakes. But let us also consider the fact that the right methodology applied with the right kind of tutelage could make learning fun and more meaningful.
Wish you all the best

Did you not use the concept of using sub numbers for your asset? No ,I did not use the asset sub number...but i just want to check what will be the acquisition value when i do multiple acquisitions...
Did you make a note of the financial document created for the postings of 5000 and 1000? Did you recall the documents for viewing using FB03? Yes,I did check the documents and more over i went for the GL Balance and i found it posted the sum of it.
Moreover, what does the asset history sheet say? The asset history says the acquisition as sum of all...but the net.book.val as the last acquisition (80)-corresponding planned depreciation.
What depreciation key did you use ? The book depreciation to which asset is tied is using 5% liner
How is it configured for additions to an asset ( in the period control key) ? i use 01 for additions to an asset (honestly I dint even understand why we use this period control )..but anyways that is what in my system
@sarkar I did not use any of them I just used ABZE transaction and did a posting | | __.____._ Copyright © 2010 Toolbox.com and message author. Toolbox.com 4343 N. Scottsdale Road Suite 280, Scottsdale, AZ 85251 | | VidhyaDhar SAP Accounting Top Contributor
