As Ben has said it, one would need a Unix shell script to be called if the OS happens to be UNIX. I had a similar requirement where I needed to copy the file placed on the Application server and FTP it. I gave requirements to my UNIX programmer to develop the shell script. Then made a call to the shell script from my ABAP program which in turn does the copy stuff and FTP. You will need SM49.
