Daniel, This is something that my company, Paymetric, pioneered in the SAP market. There are several customers using our Tokenization solution that I could put you in touch with to discuss if you'd like. There are some who post on here regularly as well so they may also respond directly. You can find information on our website about our SaaS offering (http://www.paymetric.com/solutions/xisecure-on-demand/) and we can also discuss our On Premise offering where you would host the Token Vault. The solution works exactly as you describe where the card number is immediately replaced with a token, via a custom RFC interface, as soon as it is entered by the user. All the validation checks can be made (EX: LUHN MOD 10, does a VISA start with a 4, etc) immediately. When using the On Demand\SaaS solution the Token is actually then submitted out as part of the Authorization or Settlement request and Detokenized outside of your SAP system before being sent to your processor. If so is it possible you can provide some info on how you have done this? I need to try and replace the card number with a token as soon as a user enters the card number and all validation checks have been completed on the card, but before authorization is attempted.
