Dear,
I would like to put it the other way. Wherever the requirement is to satisfy AS & IAS, take the segment route. And it is very easy to use also.
From profit center view, I can get other details like product line financials depending on how you have structured it.
Business area can be left as it is if there is no other reporting requirement other than the above.
