Hi,
You mentioned SAPLPD, are you printing to SAP device LOCL with SAPWIN device type in SAP and the Epson printer is connected to your PC ?

When you said that "Only from SAP , unable to take my print". Does this me that other windows applications print to this printer successfully? Are those outputs as large as the output that you are sending from SAP?

The way you first described the problem, it sounded like flow control settings problem between printer and host settings. Flow control is used because the older style dot-matrix printers were slower to print and did not have enough RAM buffer to hold entire contents of the ouput job. This used to be typical problem for serial RS232 connected printers - 2 types flow control to choose from a) Hardware flow control using pins 4 and 5 of the 25 pin interface, devices signal CTS (clear to send) when buffer has room for more data, and host is waiting for CTS signal on pin 5. Host raises RTS (request to send, when it has data ready to be sent (pin 4). Often cables and connectors (especially when direct connecting DTE device to DTE device would not really have those 2 pins 4 & 5 but maybe just loop them together in the connector - which negated effectiveness of flow control, or methods b) Software flow control XON/XOFF characters, when buffer fills on receiving device , it sends XOFF to the sending device. Sending Device then waits (reading form device) until XON is received. Character used for XON/OFF was often configurable - (on keyboard ctrl-S was typicall XOFF, ctrl-t was often the XON. If interface between host and printer was parallel, typical "Strobe" line decdicated for this flow control purpose. Sometimes options in printer or host port could affect that too. Cable could also affect. Flow control problems would only manifest themselves with larger outputs.

If you are printing through LOCAL on SAP back to SAPGUI SAPLPD process on the PC then SAPLPD probably manipulates the options of the PC port (COM1: or LPT1) such as flow control type for serial and/or parallel so you may want to check on those. First see what the seeings in your printer are and let us all know how the printer is connectd.
Then maybe we can have suggestion on how to make SAPLPD copatible for that.

Regards,
Ricky

Subject: SAP Print Issue

> Hi,<br/>We are running into following issue, any feedback would appreciate it.<br/>I have Epson dot matrix printer. Only from SAP, unable to take my print. I have started spool request while giving print. Only few of the lines are coming, then automatically print got struct.<br/>When i check in saplpd, i found that print job is stopped when it reaches 4559 bytes. Everytime only 4559 bytes printing. After that it stopped.<br/>Is there any settings we need to change?.
