Reply from KenThomson on Nov 7 at 9:58 PM Hi, If the device is a normal 'stock' item that you would sell in different circumstances then I suggest that you simply move that stock item to be stock at the customer. (SAP keeps stock in a plant plus storage location, but it can be moved out of that and moved to a plant plus customer) This would mean that that item of stock remains in your financials as stock at all times with just its location being specific to a customer. After the 5 or 7 year term do you then sell it to the customer or what? Another thing you can do is to use a 'no charge' sales order type which does not generate an invoice but rather transfers the cost value of that stock item to an internally chosen account assignment such as an Internal Order. The Internal Order can then be settled through to a fixed asset which would be depreciated if that is what you want to do with the cost value of that item. (But need to consider where that depreciation is to be charged through to) Probably a bunch of other questions but its somewhat dependent on what you want to do. Regards.

In a placement scheme, the company lends medical device to hospitals in exchange of minimum purchase of device consumables for a 5 or 7 years. Once the device was issued to hospital, the following accounting entry is made: Dr. COS Cr. Finished Goods We all know that this should not be the case since we only lend the equipment to hospitals. Can we configure SAP to transfer the cost to PPE account and perform automatic depreciation? I am new to the company and I've seen various entries of device to PPE account but still I have to check if this was performed thru manual entries or was it performed thru SAP because of the configuration I am thinking of? Then, how can I know the basis of the cost being depreciated? | | Reply to this email to post your response. __.____._ | _.____.__ |
