Hello,

For the release code, you can define it since this is not system generated.

Ex, A1, A2, A3, A4 etc?.

If there is existing A1 system will tell you that it is already exist so not possible that A1 will duplicate

I don't think you are asking the right question. Check out the SCN blog below. If the link does not work, Google "Purchasing Release Strategy - an expanded explanation and a GPS through SCN and SAP notes". The writer understands the subject. This is the only thing regarding SAP's release strategy I have ever seen that makes any sense.
