Reply from Munir on Oct 27 at 1:55 PM Unplanned depreciation forces an additional depreciation over the planned depreciation, there by reducing the written down value of the asset. It does not change the life of the asset. Therefore the remaining period depreciation will be lesser amount. In your case its simply the fiscal period 9 is not open. Since the period 9 is not posted it will not give result for period 10. Regards, Munir

When doing first depreciation run for a company code say in period 10 we get a error 'According to posting cycle, you should post period 001 next Message no. AA683. a) In most threads it is mentioned to open period from 001 to 009 & do depreciation to overcome this problem. But what about unplanned depreciation? In my view auditors generally don't allow to open periods so the only option is to run it in 'Unplanned' mode which doesn't make any difference in posting values or life? Am I correct? b) If I do 'Unplanned Depreciation' say in period 009 it shows posting details but its error log says that posting period 009 is closed. Now if I do the same with period 10 (open) it doesn't shows any posting details (screen is blank) neither it shows any error log? What could be the reason?
