Hi Alex,
When a new material is created (I believe in T-code : MM01), the consultant has to declare as to which "Group" that particular material will goto. (As per your example above, it will either be Group A1 or Group B1).
Hope this helps.

Take care.

Shahid.

Subject: Hierarchies in BW

Hello guys, I am new to BW, though I have many years of experience in BI and data-warehousing with various platforms and tools.
I am having hard time to understand how hierarchies in BW are built. From what I understand we really need to assign real values to each level of hierarchy. It's almost like doing things hardcoded…

For example, if we have a simple hierarchy of: material and material group, we have to explicitly say that Material A belongs to group A1 and Material B belongs to group B1. What happens if a new material is created… after hierarchy was built. It will not get values until we assign them manually.

What am I missing here?

Thanks,
Alex
