Additional FYI - as i mentioned this is a 2 step solution.

There will be some work involved on your part to tweak the same.

Step 1:
a. To identify the tables which you need to extract and update the batch file.
b. Ensure that you have access to SAP - either using your own SAP GUI logon id Or
someone else's?.
c. Ensure that your SAP database tables are clean, and have valid data as per legal
compliance with proper archiving done earlier for this to work, else this extraction
process might run for ever and it is not advisable to run this for days or months - since
it will hit SAP database performance somewhere down the line.
Step 2:
a. Identify your SQL database on MS Access for instance
b. create/leverage a batch job to load the data from the extracted spreadsheets to run
your query.

Clear as mud?. Let me know how i can help?

Thanks

Subject: Directly Reading SAP Database into SQL Database

We have business request where Business want to read some table directly from SAP Database into standalone SQL Database. They are looking some read only type of connection which they can use to connect to SAP Database and then get Data out from there.
I have some few question for which i want to clarify.
1. Will reading database directly from SAP to SQL database will void SAP Database warranty. Even if the connection is of Read type.

2. Will there be any license impact for doing such connection.

3. Microsoft has information on how to do this "https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/Cc185161(v=BTS.10).aspx" so does it mean that its done by other companies as they also see the need ?.

4.What are the pitfalls of doing such connection if we plan to do.

5. Any documentation SAP can provide on this subject.
