I don't think you want repaired parts as a different part number. Rather, if you create the part as split-valued, you will know how many you have of the part and at what status they are: New, Repairable, or Refurbished. This allows you to have the repairable at zero cost (needs to be fixed)and refurbished (stocked at cost of repair) and new will always be the purchased price.

It's complex, but the only way I know of to keep proper track of all.

inventory of electrical motors is issued to a functional location. when the inventory needs to be replaced a repaired motor is issued to the functional location and the replaced motor is sent for repair and then placed in inventory.
