Hi Raja,

I joined as a SAP Consultant post certification in 2011 after 4 years of
corporate experience in Sales & Marketing. Even though my exp was much
less than you, this decision made sense. My experience was in Insurance,
Media and Manufacturing and this included one year as a Management Trainee.
I had worked in 5 company's in these 4 years and had a hopeless resume. The
SAP job at Capgemini added consistency and weight in my profile. However,
in spite of this logic it would not be wrong to say that I did feel the
pinch and the entire journey was painful to say the least.

Reasons are as follows

None of my team members were MBA's. They were established functional
consultants as they had migrated to functional side after engineering or
MCA. Most of them were also younger to me in age and overall experience.

The projects that are assigned to SAP Certified freshers are support
projects and it is not easy to climb the ladder and make an entry into more
meaty implementation projects.

My advise is a definite ' NO '

You may explore other options, I am sure there are many

Regards,

Sumit

Subject: Changing Career Path from Sales & Marketing to SAP SD Consultant

Hi,
Please don't mind. But it is a fact that now a days the job situation is
not good. I came into sap 8 years back after having experience in domain.
Earlier it was a criteria that to become sap consultant you must have
domain exp. But now a days companies are hiring freshers and giving them
training to become consultant. There is no value of domain experience
because now a days there is a very few project where good domain experience
of people like you is coming into play. It is very sad but that's what
consultants are now a days.
So it is better not to change because market in sap for senior people seems
not good.
