have You considered to use a combination of the following SAP standard functionality:
• Define Storage Unit Types for Your pallets/boxes (OMM1 – e.g. 'PAL' & 'BOX')
• Define Storage BIN types for Your different size BINs (OMM1 – e.g. 'BIG' & 'SML')
• Set up a Storage BIN type search sequence (OMM1 – e.g. search first 'BIG', then 'SML' for both SUT's)
• Storage BIN types must be assigned to Your BINs (LS11)
• Storage types must have 'SUT check active' activated
• TO item qty controlled by Material Master WM2 view
o LE qty. 1 (=max.qty for biggest packing = SUT 'PAL') and
o LE qty. 2 (=max.qty for smaller packing = SUT 'SML')
You can control TO item sequence by chosing Your BIN naming logically or (more flexible) define Picking Areas (Logistics Execution=>Warehouse Management=>Master Data=>Define Picking Areas) which must also be assigned to Your BINs (LS11)
Then You can control the TO item sort order by Picking Area using a part of the setup for performance data processing (Logistics Execution=>Warehouse Management =>Activities=>Transfers=>Processing Performance Data / TO Split=>Processing Performance Data / TO Split=> Define Profiles & Control for Perf.Data Proc.+Define TO Split
I am using this combination and it works for us – big qty is picked with biggest SUT until remaining pick qty is below – then the rest qty is picked from small SUT.
BTW: the same works on the inbound side – just using Storage sections in the same way as Picking Areas and set up in the search sequence for stor.secs.

Hello Gurus,
We store all the received products in High Rack storage type(XXX). We replenish to Picking storage type(YYY) based on Delivery Qty. The problem is the Picking bin in YYY ends up with broken case qty and this causes a ripple effect. Orders which need to ship Full Case qty ONLY sometimes gets broken case qty. We want to separate Full case qty picking from Broken case Qty picking.
Would like to know what design options you have chosen to meet this requirement in SAP WM.
One option we are thinking is to create another storage type ZZZ for broken case picking. But this will cause us to replenish 2 storage types YYY and ZZZ. This will also increase master data maintenance.
