Reply from Snowy on Dec 4 at 12:02 PM Hi, Here's how SLT works. You have 3 systems in this scenario: ECC -> SLT -> HANA DB SLT installs databsae triggers on ECC system. Each time there is an insert/update/delete on this table, it will copy this info into a shadow table on ECC SLT monitor this shadow table. If it sees data in it, it reads it, transforms it if needed and writes it to HANA DB. then, it deletes replicated data out of shadow table. This take only a few milliseconds, so, the HANA database is sync'ed up to a few milliseconds. We are using this exact scenario and it works great. Now, I attended an SLT presentation at TechEd and they say that you can write to another ABAP system, so, it may mean that it does not need to be HANA as the destination. Hope this helps.

Hi We are looking into the possibilities of having a near real time copy of our SAP ECC Production system, so that intensive reports can be ran against it without affecting Production performance (amongst other reasons). We have a BW system but it seems users need more up to date / real-time data. One option is to use a standby system and employ Oracle 11g's Active Data Guard feature (license required) - or do something similar with RAC clusters - so that we have a near real time database we can run queries against. The problem with this though is that it will be DB level only - you can't run a SAP system on a read only database! SLT (System Landscape Transformation) was mentioned as a real time data replication tool, but all the documentation I'm finding refers to using this with HANA. Similarly, I believe BODS extractors can be used for data replication, but all the documentation I'm finding for that also refers to HANA. Is it possible to use SLT or BODS to replicate data from an ECC system to ANOTHER ECC (non-HANA) system?? TDMS (Test Data Migration Server) is another option but I don't think this is real time replication? The DMIS (Data Migration Server) service using in NZDT (near zero down time), TDMS and SLT would seem to suggest that technically something is possible... Are there any other ways to have a duplicate of our SAP system that is kept up to date (say, within 30 minutes or so) with Production data? It doesn't have to be ALL data I guess, just the essential tables... Thanks Ross | | Reply to this email to post your response. __.____._ | _.____.__ |
