I'm using a Variant Configurator and HALBs (semi-finisheds)...can I still use phantom functionality?

I appreciate for your answers.

Subject: PP: Producing raw materials from raw material

Dawid,

Either method should work.

MTS: This?uses one production order to create?B & C from A and another production order for the finished good.
e.g.: You could create an order where you issue/consume raw matl?A (9m)?in op 0010.??The confirmation/result is raw matl C (2.75m)?placed in the raw matl stock Sloc RAW1 and co-product raw matl B (6m),?also placed in raw matl stock Sloc RAW1. ?

MTO: This method?uses one order to produce the finished good, at operation 00XX?you will produce?matl C (phantom)?and?co-product matl B.
e.g.: Your routing would have op 00XX where matl A is issued/consumed. The confirmation for op 00XX indicates that the activity is complete and that the co-product has been produced. Co-product raw matl B (6m) is?placed in raw matl stock Sloc RAW1 as a result.?Matl C (2.75m) is a phantom part in this BOM,?and part of the order WIP. Therefore?matl C is not visible in stock.

You should use whichever method makes the most sense and is less confusing for your?company. It may make sense to consume 10,?20, 100... of A resulting in 10,?20, 100... of both B and C.

Good luck,?

>I'm looking for a help. i have a scenario where a raw material can be cut into two different raw materials.
>
>Here is an example:
>i have a bar (raw material - component) 9 m long which can be cut to
>a) 6 m bar
>b) and 2.75 m bar
>So I use one bar A as an input, and results of operation=cutting of this bar are bar B and C.
>
>Bar A, B and C can be used as a components in my MTO production orders...but I understand that this process of cutting the input component into two different components and then using only one in production process (MTO) and putting the other one into stock cannot be handled in one MTO production order where i have a finished good product.
>
>Should i think about doing this in a seperate MTS producion order where I use one operation (cutting) with an input main Bar A as a component and a co-product Bar B and finish product Bar C.
>By doing this, I will have an option to put Bars B and C into stock.
>Am i correct?
>Can i use co-product as raw material?
