If you have activated the manufacturer part number profile correctly, you should get 2 fields appearing in basic data 1 - Manufacturer and Manufacturers Part Number.
You have the option to set the MPN Profile such that ALL references to a part number uses a concatenation of these 2 fields (with a ":" in between) - both when inputting and outputting the material number. The internal material number will never be seen by a user. In SE16 you have an option to "USE FIELD EXITS" which determines what gets output when viewing the table.
The MNFR vendor type is used ONLY to keep track of manufacturers, so you only require CLIENT level data (basically a name), nothing at Company or Purchase Org level. If you are working in A&D you also have the option of entering a CAGE Code against the MNFR vendor.

Created material to be used for test as internal material no
Assigned manufacturer part profile to purchasing veiw
created external no range for account group MNFR and saved
created new vendors for additional parts using XK01 ( only limited views showed up on vendor master create - is this correct? )
Created new materials using HERS
Set up approved manufacturer part list (AMPL)
question- when I created PO using part number ( not internal no) the PO showed only that part no and did not give option for other part numbers- what am I missing?
Which vendor should I be using? If I used the vendor I created using MNFR it only has limited views- accounting views were missing- is this correct or there is something wrong here?
Is there something else I am missing ?
