If I would need to store values for 35 checkboxes in one field I would create a field of length 35 (or more if you want to prepare yourself for the future) and then at each position of that field I would keep value for separate chexbox, like:
'X X X X ' would mean that checkboxes 1, 4, 7, 12 were selected. It's easy to build a function to move such content of a field to 35 fields on the screen and back, because you'll still have to define them on the screen and probably also in dictionary under a structure wchich has 35 fields of lenght 1 char. This would be then easy to extend it with new checkboxes later but this solution makes that searching by this field will not be easy.
