Item categories are not modifiable once they are entered (in fact they are grey out in CS02). MM17 has got nothing to do with BoM's. It's only about material master data. CEWB wouldn't help either.

Hi -
I am working on a project that is going to require us to change item categorys for items on about 147360 thousand BOM's.
Just wondering if anyone knows of a way to easily change the item category, other than adding a new item and either deleting the old item or chaning the validity dates.
We have tried CS20 and it's not working we are working in the (PM - plant maintanance) and we do not have access to MM17
